Basketball plays a central role in our school’s sporting life, offering students the chance to develop skills, fitness, and teamwork from Year 7 onwards. Whether a student is picking up a basketball for the first time or aiming to compete at a high level, our program supports growth, confidence, and a love of the game.
We proudly run four boys teams and three girls teams across all year groups, ensuring every student can enjoy basketball at a level that suits the.
Our aim: to develop confident, skilled, and motivated players who love the game.
The provision of Basketball Clubs in Essex is strong, with our students representing their clubs in the NBL against clubs nationally.
Students are encouraged to join local Basketball clubs to push their skills further.
Our teams participate in a full calendar of fixtures and tournaments, fostering growth through regular competitive play. We proudly compete in:
• Havering Cup (Girls - Year 7, U14 and U16. Boys - Year 7, Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10)
• Junior NBA (previous years both girls and boys)
• Essex Cup (Girls - Year 7 and U14. Boys - U12, U13, U14 and U15)
• National Schools Cup (Girls - U14)
We enjoy strong success in all competitions — regularly reaching the later stages at borough and county level. In 2023, the Year 7 girls won the Junior NBA competition beating a strong Gateway School and the same team in 2025 reached the Essex Cup Basketball Final for the first team, unfortunately coming runners up to Fitzwimarc.
Year 9s Lily B and Erin O compete for Essex Swish Basketball team and Erin was selected as their captain this year. They compete in the NBL with their U14 team.
Reuben F is Year 10 has had many successes with his Basketball since he started with us in Year 7. He plays for London Stars and recently he scored 61 points in a single game in the Essex Cup!
