Trash or Treasure is a mixed media piece, created from recycled old wooden frames, shoe boxes, and acrylic on fabric. This piece is inspired by “Paper Sneakers” by Natalie Wong & “The Parakeet and the Mermaid” by Henri Matisse. The use of recycled materials reflects the major consumerism waste and also a self-evaluation of my materialistic lifestyle.
Box in a Box is a sculpture that is created by using a maker on acetate, framed inside a shoebox. This piece echoes my previous artwork inspired by my life. The use of black and colour markers and double boxes shows my true self and how I portray myself to people. I set myself in my room (black), but my mind wants to leave (colour). The walking motion represents my desire to escape reality.
"me" is a chair sculpture. Inspired by street art, stickers and graffiti. This piece shows images of my childhood, my family and things that represent me, created into stickers to describe myself.
The repetition of my name "Ingrid" in stickers and on the frame of the chair helps me remind who I am.
“Journey to Fear” is a painting series consisting of three paintings. This artwork showcases my fears such as insects, death and pain. I would like to take my audience on a journey to what I fear the most in life. Using emotions, visual of blood and skull. I hope to visualise the fear that I feel to my audience. With the wide use of vivid colours, creating irony between the message of death.
“Reflect +restrain” is a two-piece skateboard artwork. This piece expresses my tied up emotions in contrast with the freedom sea creatures have. I want to bring out the message of insecurity and struggle that I face and feel.
"SAD CORNER" is an installation piece that acts as a counselling corner. Everyone has their own concerns and sadness and what they need is someone to listen to. My aim is to bring people together and help them with their problems. We talk about each others' concerns and it became a counselling corner for my friends.
