"Lost Boy"
The stems and leaves of the vegetation were manipulated in both color and saturation through photoshop to transform an initially mundane looking image into an alien environment. This along with the exaggerated coloring of the outline of the boy places a central focus on him highlighting his “misplaced” presence in an unrecognisable reality to create a sense of unease, and the mystery of the boy appearing to be lost in this strange world.
"Dancing Boy"
Contrast of the purple body and the yellow background creates a bright, surreal atmosphere. The fragments of black and white spread across the page further add to the confusion as the body seems displaced in this static environment. The blurred motion of the body urges us to question what is truly happening in this scene . However the figure is so contorted and alien in appearance it could be interpreted as not a person at all. Appearing as a different creature entirely.
"Train Boy"
The focus of this artwork is the sign, intentionally highlighted in bright yellow in direct contrast to the blue sky and pink vegetation in the background. Mystery within the piece is created through keeping the face of the boy entirely unedited, thus juxtaposed to the deeply saturated and manipulated color in his surroundings. The piece has an unclear narrative, intended to make you question, why the boy is next to the tracks, maybe he’s catching a train?
"Tree Boy"
The flailing sprint of the boy creates a bizarre aura in this artwork , with the reason behind his absurd pose remaining unclear, creating great ambiguity in this piece. The presence of the same yellow sign within “Train Boy” alludes to the possibility that the two images are connected in their narrative. The difference in colour palette , portrays entirely separate settings, pushing the motif of ambiguity.
"Running Boy"
The colours of the sharp shapes and angles of the walls, windows, and floor within the room are manipulated to enhance the red, yellow and blue to create an ambiguous sense of place, in an internal setting. The smoke oozing from the running boy’s mouth prompts further questions as to what is occurring in the narrative of this piece and what the boy is running from, if anything at all?
