ETV @Rāwhiti School

What is ETV?

At Rāwhiti School we subscribe to ETV.  ETV has live streaming channels and is a library of educational videos.  All teaching staff at Rāwhiti School has access to ETV.   Our ETV subscription gives us access to ELINK and EVA.

ETV has educational videos on a diverse subject area, for example media studies, New Zealand History and Visual Arts.  You can search under subject, category, sources and so forth.  If you find the original source of video content, not on ETV, you can Request a Recording.

Rāwhiti School Video Content, YouTube & ETV has information on how teachers can continue to use YouTube for their learners, about Playlists, how to embed content from ETV, and how to embed content on our studio blog, learning site or in slide decks.

Requesting Recordings

You can request recordings from YouTube.  Requested content will be evaluated for educational relevance and users may be asked to provide the “educational use” purpose if this is not clearly evident.  Once the footage has been uploaded to ETV you will receive an email.  The email will inform you that the footage has been uploaded and will include a link.  Once the footage is in ETV it can be easily added to EVA or ELINK.

Below is an example of what a recording from ETV looks like compared to YouTUBE.

If you are wanting a collection, for example Storylines Online, you can request a collection.  To start this will often be limited to the ten most popular videos.

Embedded footage from ETV

Video footage embedded from ETV displays no controls, no option when the video is paused to click on other suggested videos.  If the link it used it will require students to have an ETV account.  This is an option if you find you want students to have access to eLink Workspaces.

Online collections we have the first 10 Storylines Online, Under Primary, English.  They have also been embedded into a Google Site - Click here.

Embeded video from YouTube

Even if you add ‘?rel=0’ and '?controls=0' into the embed code you will still get the watermark for YouTube.  If a student pauses the video on an iPad it will give them other videos, they can click on, that will take them to YouTube.  On a Chromebook links to YouTube is blocked (R18).
