Hello! Here is a quick guide to how to make a DIY scrimmage jersey! Now, before we start, I'm going to give a quick tip: Even if you know what team you or your skater is playing on, make BOTH colors. You never know if you or your skater will need to switch teams at the last second. Sometimes they have too many on one team, or it turns out they mess the roster up and there are two of the same number on one team. Last, it's just useful. I've had this happen a couple of times where someone forgot their jersey, but luckily, I had brought both, so they could play on the opposing team in my extra jersey.
Materials:
1 black and 1 white shirt you or your skater is comfortable playing in
1–2 black Sharpies or black fabric pens
1–2 either silver Sharpies or white fabric pens
Personal preferences/optional:
Cardboard or something to slide inside the shirt to write on and prevent bleeding.
If you want numbered sleeves, same thing but smaller and can fit in the sleeves.
If you don’t like sleeves, grab some scissors and be prepared to either write numbers on arms in Sharpie or armbands.
Let’s Begin!
Get that cardboard or flat item you are using to prevent bleeding in the shirt and place it approximately where you will write your number and name. Your numbers must be 6 inches or bigger, and the characters in your name must be 2 inches or shorter.
Next, look at the space you have and decide if you want just your numbers or if you want both your name and number. You cannot have just a name, but you can choose to have only your number. If you want your name, decide whether it is on your shoulders or under your numbers.
After deciding that, you can get started. I would suggest that if you have more than one number, start from the middle of the shirt and number so that it comes out even.
The same thing goes for names.
From personal experience, I would also do numbers first in case whatever you are using to write runs out of ink and you are stuck with a full name but a partially done number.
If you prefer sleeves, lay them flat and slip the cardboard or other material through so that when you write your number it won’t bleed, then once again start from the middle so the numbers sit evenly on the arm/sleeve.
If you would rather not have sleeves, then chop those bad boys off and you can either
Keep hold of that black Sharpie so you can write your number on your/ your skater's arm come game day.
