Autumn 1
Our topic this term is London Landmarks.
Literacy
In Literacy this term we will be reading the story Katie in London. We will use this fantastic story of some children visiting famous London sights and learn to retell it to write a story with a beginning, middle and end. We will also be writing a recount of our trip to The Tower of London.
Children will be focusing on writing grammatically correct sentences that make sense.
Maths
In Maths this term we will be exploring the topic of place value with numbers up to 100. The children will be learning about how to recognise and write numbers to 100. They will be identifying tens and ones and start counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s.
We will also begin to think about addition and subtraction and learn formal methods to add and subtract up to 100 including exchange.
History and Geography
In History, we will be learning about significant people at the Tower of London from it's creator William the Conqueror to how it is used today. Our learning will be topped off with a fantastic trip to The Tower of London.
To support our learning in History and Literacy we will be learning about London and its famous London landmarks. We will be using a compass to describe where these landmarks can be found.
