About Me:
Hello Sixth Grade Families! My name is Alyssa Kuharcik and I have been teaching for the last nine years. I have taught fifth - eighth grade, but sixth is definitely my favorite! This will be my sixth year at Rocklin Academy Gateway and I am so happy to be continuing my journey on the sixth grade team!
A little more about me, I grew up in Hawaii, but I've lived in the Auburn/Grass Valley area for the past 20 years. I went to UC Davis to get my bachelor's in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and after graduation I started substitute teaching and fell in love with it. I realized that I loved teaching and wanted to pursue it further so I enrolled in the CalStateTEACH program and have been teaching ever since! I enjoy spending time with family and friends, I love to read in my spare time, and I have an obsession with Harry Potter. I enjoy theming my classroom in "Harry Potter" and sharing it with my students.
I am so happy to be able to teach sixth grade! I have found that I enjoy working with sixth graders to discover not only their passion for learning, but also watching them come into their own as young adults. I enjoy getting to know them and their individual personalities in order to establish great relationships with them. My classroom is always a place where students are supported in trying new things and are encouraged to develop a passion for learning. I believe in empowering them to take ownership of their education. I am looking forward to working with my students and their parents to have an amazing school year!
Email is by far the best way to reach me. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions that you may have. I try to respond within 24 hours, but I do not regularly check my email over the weekend or after work hours.
I send out parent newsletter emails every Friday to let parents know curriculum updates, events, and other notifications. Please make sure that I have your email if you would like to receive them.
