Any Year 11 students may apply for the position of Subject Captain. This is a significant academic leadership position within the College. The primary role of each Subject Captain is to provide student leadership to promote their subject to the broader school community and to organise and lead subject related initiatives and events. The captains work closely with the relevant Head of Learning Area and Academic Learning Prefects

Interested students are invited to apply for the position of Subject Captain. Students are permitted to apply for no more than two subjects or areas.
Successful candidates will be shortlisted (by Thursday 30 October) for interview by the Head of Learning Area and interviews will be conducted from Monday 3 November to Friday 7 November
* It is important to note that progression from the interview stage to a position of leadership is not automatic. As such, shortlisted students should prepare carefully for their interview.

Appointed each year as Senior School Leaders and working with the Heads of School as representatives of the student body, Senior School Leaders contribute to school decision-making and implementation of student initiatives. They work closely with the School Prefects, organising activities within Senior School. This role will involve co-ordinating term assemblies and attending Senior School Leaders meetings weekly at lunch time. Senior School Leaders will also be a part of the Student Representative Council (SRC).

The House Leaders have responsibility with contributing to, and assisting with the House program within the College. They will meet regularly with the House Prefect and Co-ordinator of Houses to plan events and to provide feedback on the various activities that students participate in across the year. They will assist in coordinating House activities, including service initiatives and encouraging and supporting students within the Houses.

The Intercultural Leaders Responsible for building and promoting cultural fluency and social intelligence with the College community to give students a voice in their ideas for intercultural activities; being advocates for fellow students; working with teachers, staff and other prefects on Social Intelligence initiatives.

The Wellbeing Leader will be responsible for building and promoting wellbeing within their sub-school and across the College community. Working in collaboration with the Wellbeing Prefect and staff, they will provide feedback and advice on Compass Time and the Compass Curriculum program. They will conduct surveys to determine the needs of their peers and run sub-school based wellbeing initiatives to improve student wellbeing.

The Community Service Leader has responsibility over the community service program within the College. Liaising regularly with the Service Prefect and advising them of any challenges as they arise. They will support and promote community service (of all kinds and at all levels) within the College.

The Environment Leaders have particular responsibility over the promotion of sustainability and environmental care within the College. In their leadership they are responsible for promoting and fostering school spirit and the College values - care, courage, integrity, respect and responsibility. Working with the Environment Prefect, they will set goals and take action in establishing and promoting the College's environmental and sustainability focus.

The Student Communication Leaders work closely with the Student Communication Prefect to build a strong team to help promote and drive effective and engaging communications across the College. This includes taking on editorial roles within the student newspaper, contributing to and overseeing its content as part of their leadership responsibilities. The team will work together to build and promote the student voice in communications within the College community. As Leaders, they will help to promote and foster school spirit and the College values — care, courage, integrity, respect, and responsibility. The Leaders of Student Communication represent their particular year group.

Chapel Leaders work with the Chaplains, staff and students to help improve Christian worship at Pymble and support the smooth running of the chapel services for the duration of the year. They also help co-ordinate Music staff, student musicians and singers.

The Future Captain is primarily responsible for promoting awareness of the Futures Program. They are also responsible for encouraging students to engage with and participate in opportunities and events, in particular the Careers Expo, Year 10 Strengths Skills, Year 11 Immersion Day and Year 10 Future You Festival.

Outdoor Education Leader
The Outdoor Education Leaders are responsible for helping to build awareness about the value of outdoor learning beyond the classroom. The Outdoor Education Leader position involves attending the Year 7 or Year 8 Outdoor Education Program (OEP) to assist and provide a role model for younger girls. There may also be opportunities to join parts of the Year 9 Residential Program.
Other duties throughout the year may include assisting with OEP assemblies and information nights, and promote Outdoor Education across the college.
Year 11 (2026)only: 8 students
Selected through an application process. To apply for this role students must have completed the Year 9 Residential Program, preference given to students who attended longer and more adventurous program options in Year 10.

Centre of Excellence Leader
The Centre of Excellence Student Leader will support gifted and high-potential learners by working with the Director of the Centre of Excellence to promote awareness, encourage participation, and shape future initiatives. The Leader will foster involvement in programs such as da Vinci Decathlon, Future Problem Solving, and Talent Development, assist with planning and running events, and mentor peers in their talent development journey. By sharing feedback, promoting opportunities, celebrating achievements, and collaborating with staff and students to develop new ideas, the Leader will help build a positive culture that recognises and promotes student talent.
