What is Leadership to you? Consider some leaders you respect or admire. They may be family members, teachers, coaches, other students, change makers or celebrities. Once you have a list, take a moment to ask yourself:
• What makes these people good leaders?
• What aspects of their character inspires you to follow their lead?
• How can you use their journey to inspire yours?
Just like these people, you can also inspire others. They were all once your age, in school and figuring out their passions, strengths and interests.
Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximises the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal. At Pymble, we want to instill a passion for Servant Leadership in each of you. Servant Leaders put the needs, growth, and wellbeing of others in the community above themselves. Outstanding leaders always allow those around them to shine.
Whilst this website is dedicated to offering opportunities for formal leadership roles, notice key elements of this definition: Leadership stems from social influence, not authority or power. You don’t need a formal title or badge to be considered a leader. You don’t have to be a Prefect or member of the SRC at Pymble to influence others. You just need to be someone who cares about a cause enough to ask others to join you.
Best wishes for your personal leadership journey.
