Gala Night Briefing

1. 1. To help everyone feel prepared and confident for the event, we will be holding a lunchtime briefing in the Performance Space. During this session, we will cover important information including entries and exits, quick changes, holding rooms, and the stage layout.

   2. The briefing will take place on Thursday 30 July (Week 2) at 1.00pm in Studio 5 and 6. Students are advised to eat their lunch before and then come into the studio at 1pm. Please let your daughter know. 

Student Arrival and Preparation for the Gala

1. 1. Students are to arrive at 5.45pm in their first costume, with hair and makeup done.

   2. All students are required to wear their hair in a low, middle-part bun for all performance genres throughout the evening.

   3. Students who have classes scheduled until 5.45pm will be permitted to change costumes and do their hair and makeup in their designated holding rooms.

Holding Rooms

1. 1. Junior School (Year 3 to 6): Students will be located in the Junior School classrooms opposite the Dance Centre on Level 1 and must sign in with a staff member upon arrival.

   2. Secondary School (Year 7 to 12): Students will be located in Studios 3 and 4 and must sign in with the appropriate staff member.

   3. Please note that holding rooms will not be available prior to 5.45pm.

Student Collection and Sign-Out

1. 1. At the conclusion of the performance, parents and guardians of Junior School students are asked to collect their children from outside the Junior School classrooms on the Dance Centre level.

   2. Secondary School students will sign themselves out from their designated holding rooms.

Venue Information

1. 1. The performance will take place in the Pymble Dance Centre, located on Level 1 of the Hunter and Vicars Building on the Pymble Ladies’ College campus.

   2. Doors to the performance space will open at 6.15pm. Patrons are welcome to wait in the Dance Centre foyer from 6.00pm until staff are ready to welcome guests into the theatre.

Parking

1. 1. We recommend parking in the Centenary Car Park, accessible via Gate 3 or near the flagpole, accessible via Gate 1.

   2. Alternatively, parking is available in the surrounding streets near Gate 3.

   3. Please be aware that Grey House Walk will be closed from 6.00pm and will remain inaccessible for the duration of the evening. Vehicles parked in this area will not be accessible past 6.00pm.

Public Transport

1. 1. If travelling by public transport, please take the train to Pymble Station and enter the College via the Sufferance path pedestrian gate.

1. 1. A digital program for the evening will be available via QR code in the foyer prior to the performance.

Please note that internet and wifi is problematic within in the Dance Centre so we highly recommend downloading all tickets from your confirmation email prior to arrival to ensure a smooth and efficient entry into the theatre.

Under Garments

All students are required to have appropriate under garments. No under garment is to be seen under the Dance Costume.

All extra tights should also be purchased through Bloch Dance Stores, so they are all the same.

All junior students must have Bloch body stockings.

Caring for your Costume

• • This year, all garment bags have been named, and all costume items have name tags.

  • Please keep costumes hung up at all times.

  • Air out or wash costumes if needed between Eisteddfods.

  • Always check items in Garment Bag before and after an Eisteddfod.

  • Report any missing or damaged items to dance department.

  • Costumes are the property of Pymble Ladies’ College, and any misplaced or damaged costumes will be charged at full price.

  • Jazz White, Contemporary White and Navy – Please take extra care with makeup for white costumes.

Washing your Costume

Gently hand wash garments separately in cold water, using a mild liquid detergent. Take care with any Beads and Sequins.

Rinse immediately in cold water
Dry garment flat on a towel, in the shade

Place in direct sunlight

NB Please note that any student who does not return all garments will be charged the costume replacement fee.
