The Performance Stream includes various levels of selective groups of promising dancers who wish to grow, be challenged, and be part of a dedicated Dance team. Entrance into any Performance Stream group is via audition only. Please read below for the Secondary School Performance Stream structure with a brand new offering for 2025 'Pymble Dance Company'
New students unable to make it to the auditions in person will be required to submit a video audition for grading by the audition panel by the date of the audition. Current students will be required to attend a face-to-face audition at an alternate time arranged.
In addition to the Performance Stream, our Dance Program offers a variety of Dance classes in all styles and levels. Information regarding registrations for the Onstage, SideStage and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet Streams, of the Co-curricular Dance Program will be available from Co-curricular Administration later in 2024.

Our Eisteddfod Dance Team offers three levels of Eisteddfod groups for Secondary School in the styles of Contemporary and Jazz. Each group will have 20 to 30 dancers and will be graded. All groups will be open to Years 7 to 12, 2026 students.
The Contemporary White group will cater for highly accomplished and advanced Contemporary dancers who show exceptional skill in the style of Contemporary Dance. This will be the top Contemporary Dance group in the Secondary School, and they will learn two routines a year. This group will perform at up to five Eisteddfods and/or events during the year.
The Jazz White group will cater for highly accomplished and advanced Jazz dancers who show exceptional skill in the style of Jazz. This will be the top Jazz Dance group in the Secondary School, and they will learn two routines a year. This group will perform at up to five Eisteddfods and/or events during the year.
The Contemporary Scarlet group will cater for experienced Contemporary dancers who demonstrate excellent skill in the style of Contemporary Dance. This will be the second level Contemporary Dance group in the Secondary School, and they will learn two routines a year. This group will perform at up to five Eisteddfods and/or events during the year.
The Jazz Scarlet group will cater for experienced Jazz dancers who demonstrate excellent skill in the style of Jazz. This will be the second level Jazz Dance group in the Secondary School, and they will learn two routines a year. This group will perform at up to five Eisteddfods and/or events during the year.
The Contemporary Navy group will cater for Intermediate level Contemporary dancers who show developing skill in the style of Contemporary Dance. This will be the third level Contemporary Dance group in the Secondary School, and they will learn two routines a year. This group will perform at up to five Eisteddfods and/or events during the year.
The Jazz Navy group will cater for Intermediate level Jazz dancers who show developing skill in the style of Jazz. This will be the third level Jazz Dance group in the Secondary School, and they will learn two routines a year. This group will perform at up to five Eisteddfods and/or events during the year.
The Hip Hop Crew will cater for a high level of Hip Hop Dancers who show excellent skill in the style of Hip Hop. They will learn one / two routines a year and will perform at one Eisteddfod other internal College events. This class is aimed at students in the Hip Hop 3 level and auditions will be via a selection class. No technique class is required for this crew. Extra Hip Hop intensive may be required during the year.
Our Troupe Level groups are aimed at encouraging students to build their dance skills and have at least one external performance opportunity. The Dance Troupe level is designed to cater for the students who are not yet ready for the Eisteddfod team level but show potential to be challenged beyond the Onstage class level. Students will be placed in these groups via the Performers Stream Auditions.
The Contemporary Dance Troupe will cater for developing Contemporary dancers who show potential skill in the style of Contemporary Dance. They will learn two routines a year and will perform at one Eisteddfod other internal College events. Placement in these groups will be done via the Performance Stream Auditions.
The Jazz Dance Troupe will cater for developing Jazz dancers who show potential skill in the style of Jazz. They will learn two routines a year and will perform at one Eisteddfod and other internal College events. Placement in these groups will be done via the Performance Stream Auditions.
Any Secondary School students wishing to be a member of the Eisteddfod/Troupe Performance Stream must:
Commit to attending the schedule weekly class all year
Commit to performing at all Eisteddfods the group is entered in during the year Eisteddfod dates will be announced when information is released. Some Eisteddfods release their dates six months in advance, others only two to four weeks before the event.
Commit to performing at the College Co-curricular Dance Showcase and be available for all rehearsals during Showcase in Week 5 of Term 4.
Register in and attend the compulsory Supplementary Classes.
Wear the full dance uniform to classes and Eisteddfods
Check student / parent communication regularly for information regarding Eisteddfods and classes
Advise the Dance Department of potential clashes of commitments as soon as possible
Uphold the College values while participating in all Eisteddfods and classes
Communicate with the Dance Department about any issues that may arise during the year
Additional Requirements for Eisteddfod Groups Only
Attend the entire Eisteddfod Intensive Weekend: Dates to be advised.
Keep their hired Eisteddfod costume in excellent condition all year and return by the due date after showcase
Be available for lunchtime rehearsals when needed and prioritise these during the Eisteddfod season
The compulsory supplement classes for the Secondary School Performance Stream for 2026 are classes that supplement the dancers training by enhancing their safe dance practice and supporting them to reach their potential.
All Secondary Eisteddfod Group Classes in 2026 will remain as 2 hours and will be inclusive of 30 minutes of Routine Technique. In addition to this all members must register for 1 x Technique Class a week.
No exemptions will be granted for the Technique component regardless of external studio commitments.
The Troupe classes are focused on encouraging students to develop and master their style through the acquisition of competition routines. For Secondary Troupe students, it is compulsory to register in a Technique class.
There will be additional opportunities for students wanting to expand their dance schedule with Onstage Classes in 2026. Please review the class schedule when it is released.

Students musts have their own black Jazz shoes (Jazz only), costume hosiery (to be advised), hair and makeup accessories (bobby pins, hair spray etc.). Please note: prices listed for clothing and costumes are approximate, due to external factors.
Each student in the Dance Showcase will have a Showcase package fee which will include a Showcase T-Shirt and an online link to the video footage. The 2025 price for the Showcase package will be approximately $100.00 and will be charged in Term 3.
The Eisteddfod class is a weekly class taught by the Eisteddfod teacher. The structure of this class is to learn challenging routines for the Eisteddfod season and Dance Showcase and build strong teamwork skills within the group.

All Eisteddfod groups are required to attend a compulsory intensive weekend of workshops. The weekend will be held at the start of Term 2 and will include a variety of exciting workshops, as well as sessions dedicated to learning and polishing the 2024 Eisteddfod routines. Students may not be required for the full duration of the weekend and a full schedule will be released in Term 1, 2024.

The Secondary Eisteddfod Team will be attending the Australia Dance Festival at Homebush in September to participate in a series of workshops, competitions and a show.
Students are required to hire their costumes for the year at a cost of $65.00 per student, per group (included in the yearly enrolment fee). At the end of the year, students who do not return all costume items in a satisfactory condition will be charged the full price of the costume (approx. $200.00 per costume). Costumes for each group will either be from the College costume stock, or new garments which will be ordered specifically for the groups theme of dance. Students may be required to source specific accessories.
The Dance Troupes will either hire their costumes from the College or purchase. If the group is hiring their costumes for the year it will be at a cost of $65.00 per student, per group. If the group is required to purchase their costume it will be at a cost of $120.00 per costume may be required to source specific accessories.
