PMHS Activities/Clubs/Extra Curricular Activities

**Every year in September we host a Club/Activities Festival where students can sign up for clubs.  Please listen to the school announcements and school news for information about meetings.

ELIGIBILITY

In order to participate in any extra-curricular or co-curricular activity, students must have a 78 average in the quarter preceding the activity as well as any report card during the season.  Students are required to be passing 30 credits or the equivalent in the semester preceding the activity.  Students MUST also be in good attendance standing, any student over 14 days absent or 20 days tardy to school, will not be allowed to participate in school clubs/sports/any extra-curricular activity.  

Students who have been suspended have been determined to be excessively absent or excessively tardy will not be permitted to participate in the following activities: 

Students who are on the fine list for any amount over $25 for materials, equipment, technology, etc., will not be permitted to participate in ANY extra-curricular activity (including athletics and club activities) until the fines are paid or a payment plan for the fine(s) has been established. 

Students who attend extra and co-curricular events must be in good academic standing and have no suspensions for one calendar month prior to the extra/co-curricular event.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

As a junior or a senior, you may be a candidate for the Pennsville Chapter of the National Honor Society.  In order to apply for acceptance into the NHS, be able to demonstrate the 4 pillars of the NHS - Scholarship, Leadership/Activities, Service, & Character.  

Scholarship = 92 or higher GPA (93 or higher GPA for class or 2022 and beyond). 

Leadership/Activities = Earn a minimum of 15 points from the approved list of school and community activities with verification from the coach/advisor/leader.

Service = the successful student must be able to document 5 verifiable hours of community service in each year prior to NHS eligibility.  These hours cannot be in conjunction with any school activities. 

Character = students will be evaluated on the following criteria, Academic Honesty, Discipline Record, Dependability, Positive Attitude and Behavior.

RENAISSANCE PROGRAM

Renaissance is a committee of students, teachers and administrators that help recognize students for their hard work and dedication to their education.  This is an incentive program that seeks to recognize as many students as possible in a variety of ways throughout the school year. The focus is on areas of improvement like academic performance, punctuality, attendance and behavior.

*An attendance infraction includes both excused (medical) and unexcused (vacations, parent notes, college field trips, etc.) absences, in addition to lateness to school/class.  Strands of vacations or unexcused days exceeding the limit will disqualify students for a card. 

***Students will not be eligible to be a Renaissance cardholder if they are failing any course or have received "D" on their schedule for the corresponding marking period.

STUDENT COUNCIL

The PMHS Student Council’s objectives are as follows: 

YEARBOOK

Students who work on the Sentinel, our school yearbook, compose a chronology of the year’s events that students hold forever.  The yearbook is our history. Students desiring to work on the yearbook should contact the advisors.

Purchasing a yearbook may be done in advance during the announced order period or in June when yearbooks are delivered (Note: there will be a limited number of yearbooks available in June – Seniors have first choice in June yearbook sales).

PLEASE NOTE: the yearbook is a student publication.  Every attempt is made to make every yearbook an accurate account of the year; however, some errors are bound to occur.  The school will not reimburse anyone for a yearbook due to errors such as; inaccuracies, missing photographs, incorrect spelling of names, or incorrect labeling of student names.  Any and all questions or comments regarding the yearbook should be brought to the attention of the yearbook advisors.

FUNDRAISING

ALL fundraising activities MUST be approved by PMHS administration. 

No door to door solicitation is permitted for any PMHS fundraiser.
