COLLEGE ENTRANCE Requirements

High school graduation requirements differ slightly from California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) entrance requirements.  The requirements for earning the ability to apply to a UC or CSU are outlined below.

• 4 years English 

• 3 years Math

• 2 years Lab Science (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) Note: CSU will accept Earth Science

• 2 years World Language (same Language, third year recommended)

• 2 years U.S. History and World History

• 1 year Visual, Performing Arts  (VAPA –Fine Arts, Music, Drama)

• 1 year College Prep Elective (e.g. Government/Economics)

The CSU and UC systems recommend that the student take more than the minimum requirements.  The grade earned in college prep classes must be a “C” or higher to be accepted by the college. For more information about a-g courses, see the CSU-UC Comparison of Minimum Freshman Admission Requirements.
