PERSONALIZED EDUCATION PROGRAM (PEP)
The Personalized Education Program (PEP) is designed for students who may not have the desire or ability to attend a 4-year university right out of high school, and traditionally serves 11th and 12th graders. Oftentimes, students in the PEP program have a variety of factors going on in their lives that make it difficult for them to keep up with the rigor of the Early College Program (ECP). However, students are encouraged to take part in ECP program options (particularly Career Pathways/Certificates Option) to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. Through the PEP program, students are assigned an advisor who also teaches all of their courses, but can also access courses through Sierra College to help reach their individual education and career goals. In specific circumstances, students enrolled in the PEP program are given the option of reduced credit requirements as outlined by the California Department of Education (CDE) per Education Code Section 51225.3, and complete the requirements for receiving a high school diploma within the State of California. Students who may need this adjustment are discussed within the Maidu teacher-counselor-administration team to ensure this adjustment is appropriate and based on individual circumstances.
