Week 8

WALT: write poetry.

Instructions:

  1. As a class, we are going to take a look at what we already know about poetry.

  2. Now, let's take a look at the poem "At the End of the Driveway" .

  3. Using the poem as a guide, write your own poem titled "Inside the Red Fence"

  4. Using Google Slides, put your poem together with the pictures you took in class for your reading task. Record a voice over of your poem and put the two together using iMovie.

  5. Post your poem on your blog with the video underneath. Be sure to include a detailed task description.


Weeks 6 and 7

WALT: record and write a public service announcement

Instructions:

  1. As a class, we will have a discussion about Public Service Announcements.

  2. In your group of 2-4 students, complete the PSA Planning doc.

  3. After completing your planning doc, and story board, you will be creating your own PSA to be shared at our class viewing party.

Weeks 4 and 5

WALT: use figurative language when writing a narrative.

Instructions:

  1. As a class, we will have a discussion about figurative language

  2. Complete the figurative language learning task.

  3. Post your writing task to your blog. Be sure to include 2-3 sentence task description.

  4. CREATE: Add a slide of your own to our Class Figurative Language Slide Deck

  5. We will also be writing a narrative in class for you to show off your own personal writing style when telling a story. I can't wait to read what you come up with!

WALT: write an introduction and conclusion for an explanation

Instructions:

  1. As a class, we will have a discussion about what is an Explanation piece of writing.

  2. Take your time to complete this Learning Task from Week 1. As a class, we will be focusing on the introduction and conclusion this week.

  3. We will also spend some time this week practicing to write an explanation on our own.

  4. Post your writing task to your blog. Be sure to include 2-3 sentence task description.
