Shortcourse: Our Earth System

This shortcourse will cover the main aspects of our earth system; physical parameters of the earth; basic gravity and magnetic and their importance; basic structure; main ocean and atmospheric systems; where are you; global time and time reference system; location and reference systems; longitude, latitude; UTM; GPS and other satellite systems; how to use Google Earth TM; satellite images; geographic features from space. This course provides hands on experiences.

• Classes are held live

• 1.5 credits can be obtained

• Microsoft teams, PSU LMS2 are used

• There are (live) assignments, (live) quizzes, live discussions 

• Open to all levels - Everyone who is interested can participate 

• Students should have basic science understanding (nothing specific) 

Course will cover 8 weeks; and will start with the beginning of the PSU 2nd term of 2021.

The course is 3 hours per week. Weekly schedule (day/time) will be arranged with all students during the first week.

Overall time and schedule however is flexible and can be rearranged according to the needs of the participants.
