Unit Question - How does the interconnection of systems in your body help maintain homeostasis?
Unit Outline - Human Body
ATL Skill - Thinking - Creative Thinking (has more broad options for this unit)
NEED to reserve hominid skulls for start of next unit - karina.hassell@colostate.edu (or courtney.butler@colostate.edu )
ADD - Need some "age appropriate" reading analysis in this unit. See Newsela.
Align with CO Science Standards???
Big topic - Homeostasis.
ADD - Need a specific lesson or day of notes for homeostasis - could do this with the homer model, and move that lesson BEFORE the circulatory system lesson.
Lesson 1 - Respiratory System - Oct 28, 29
Unit Outline - Post and have students fill in key details
Lesson 2 - Human Body Review
Nervous System - Movie - Inside Out - Oct 30 (rethink the purpose of this lesson - plus the DVD skips?? - Sub Lesson)
Lesson 3 - Homeostasis Model - Oct 31
Lesson 4 - The Circulatory System Part 1 - Nov 3 (weather dependent - switch with lesson 1 or 2 if needed) - Bio Common Assessment - Crit C
Lesson 5 - Systems and Dissection Basics - Nov 5
Lesson 6 - Frog Dissection - Nov 6 (Parts Printout)
Lesson 7 - Body Systems Model (2-3 lessons needed) - Nov 4, 7
do any missing work if finished early
Lesson 8 (for HSS only) - Dialysis and the Kidneys - Nov 10??? Maybe
Lesson 9 - Wrap up unit? Closure - Nov 11 and 12
Career research project - gallery walk share and grading? - all health science field jobs - find the article that highlights all of the tech positions and have students pick one to research and present. Could work in a group of 2, but that will add to the presentation overall. Incorporate body system connections and how those jobs help to identify or manage homeostasis.
Quarter Reflection - including Criterion E grade
Possibly add later

students want to learn about concussions
