We are very excited to have been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall this spring! This will be a fantastic opportunity for students and an experience they will remember for a lifetime. We will leave the day before Spring Break begins (Fri, March 14) and spend four nights in New York. We return on Tuesday, March 18.
Our performance at the Manhattan Concert Productions Symphonic Series will be on Monday, March 17 (St. Patrick's Day!). There is a morning session and an afternoon session. We have not received our assignment yet.
Our tentative schedule has us going to Top of the Rock, and some other sightseeing on Friday night. We'll attend the New York Philharmonic on Saturday night (playing an AMAZING program, under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel... the most famous conductor on the planet). Sunday we'll be seeing a Broadway show and receive a clinic from Gary Lewis or Peter Boonshaft (both top notch collegiate conductors). On Monday night after our performance we'll check out a jazz club. There is a good bit of sightseeing worked in to our daily schedules as well.
NO STUDENT leaves the hotel without a chaperone, and we will ALWAYS travel in a group. Safety is our top priority, and there will be more than double the PSD required number of chaperones on the trip, as well as two dedicated overnight chaperones at the hotel.
All trip participants will receive a ticket to our performance. Friends and family may also attend the performance. Tickets will be available on the Carnegie Hall website sometime this fall.
Here is a copy of our proposed itinerary (flight times will likely change, which may cause alterations to the schedule).
Here is a pamphlet that goes over most of the activities we'll be doing and also goes over the pricing.
If you haven't registered yet, it's very easy to do so. Here are the instructions on how to get registered and set up your account. Registration is open until early October.
We will have at least 2 fundraisers where students can dedicate the money they raise towards the trip. We are also looking at other opportunities for students to raise some money for themselves as well.
The student cost for the trip is $3,029. Chaperone Cost is $2,643. This cost includes:
