Jazz Band 1

The  Jazz Band 1 is an auditioned ensemble of 9th-12th graders.  We play three concerts each year, and participate in the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival each April.  This group also represents our school in the community, playing for special events at TMHS, and around the Timnath/Fort Collins area.  

Participants in this group usually play a 'standard' jazz band instrument (saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, bass, drums), but other instruments (French horn, tuba, flute, ???) are also considered.  Students MUST be concurrently registered for a band, choir or orchestra class to be eligible for Jazz Band (with possible exceptions for guitar and piano).

The group meets Monday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings at 7:45.  The class is worth 10 credits annually.  

Guitar auditions for the group will be due August 22.  Sheet music is  here  and the play-along tracks are here. 

• Play the melody to Doxy, then comp (accompany) for 1 chorus, then solo for 1 chorus.  It's okay if this is broken up into 3 separate recordings, but if you want to do it all in one big shot with all  three choruses back-to-back, that is fine as well!

Participants in this class are also considered for participation in Jazz Combo, which meets twice a week during lunch, and performs on the same concerts and festival.
