Timnath MHS Bands

2024-25 Calendar

Here's our current list of band events for the coming school year. More events will be added periodically.

PRIVATE LESSON LIST!!!

Summer is a GREAT time to take some lessons!!! It is, by far, the best way to get REALLY GOOD, REALLY FAST

Recommended Step-Up instruments (8th grade and above)

Here is a list of recommended instruments as your band student grows out of their 'beginning' horn.  Usually 8th or 9th grade is a good time to invest in a higher quality instrument.

About Me:

I have been teaching in Poudre School District since 1996.  It's the only district in which I've ever taught!  I was director of bands at Poudre HS for 26 years, and I am so excited to now be on the fantastic staff at Timnath.

I play the trumpet professionally around the region in groups like the Larimer Chorale Orchestra, Cheyenne Symphony, Fort Collins Wind Symphony, Salsa Forte, The Retake, Meadowlark Jivin' and the John Mills Jazz Orchestra.  I really do love all kinds of music, but I have a particular passion for Jazz.

I also love to hike, snowboard, kayak and golf.  I am a big fan of Colorado sports, especially the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Broncos and Colorado State University Rams!  I enjoy cooking, reading and listening to really good music.

I live in Johnstown with my wife (Emily), three daughters (Ella, Nora & Lily... all TMHS students!) we also have a couple of crazed golden doodles (Charlie and Toby).

I love that I get to help students develop as musicians and humans, and watch their love of music and the arts grow over the years.

Andrea Frost

About me:

I was born and raised in Cordova, Alabama. I marched as a color guard member in the Million Dollar Band at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and went to every football game. My main instrument is clarinet and I play in the Fort Collins Wind Symphony. I earned my Master's degree in Music Education from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL before moving to Colorado in 2003. This is my 23rd year teaching and I am still loving it! I enjoy writing, reading books and poetry, watching Ted Talks, listening to podcasts, running, cooking, playing the clarinet, spending time with family, hiking, and being a life-long learner.

Why I enjoy teaching:

I love teaching and learning from students. Music is an essential way of knowing ourselves and expressing ourselves in ways that words cannot. Music heals, brings us joy, and helps us understand life at a deeper level. Band is a vehicle that allows us not only to perform but teaches us a multitude of life skills, from pushing through adversity with the mental toughness to leaving people better than we found them. I absolutely love seeing the journey of students growing as humans by handling stress with grace, being persistent, and contributing positively to the group. I am happy that I have had students for 3 years. One of the best rewards is seeing how they struggle (some for the first time) and build tools in their toolbox to push through the hard things independently.

Favorite Books:

Think Again by Adam Grant;  Giver of Stars by JoJo Moyes; Grimm Fairy Tales; Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

College Football, Alabama, of course! Roll Tide!
