Beginning Band

Beginning Band - Designed for the student with no previous band experience. There will be multiple sections, grouped by instrument. Beginning Band students will start on Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba or Percussion. We will be conducting an instrument try-out night on Wednesday, April 27 from 5 to 8 pm at Bamford Elementary. Students can try all the instruments they want, and we'll help them decide where they want to get started. It is encouraged that percussionists have experience on piano or another instrument before starting on percussion in the Beginning Band.

If you missed our initial tryout night, no worries! We're hosting a makeup night on Monday, May 16 from 5 to 8 at Bamford Elementary.

Students interested in saxophone, oboe, bassoon or bass clarinet should start out on clarinet (or possibly flute). This will make the transition to their desired instrument much easier (typically at the end of the first year).
