Algebra 1 Algebra 2 Geometry

All Courses: Tuition: $400 / Materials Fee: $20 / Lab Fee: $50

Algebra 1

3rd Period: 12:10 PM - 1:40 PM

Algebra 1 covers all topics of introductory algebra, including the Cartesian coordinate system, relating independent and dependent variables, graphing applications, and introductions to modeling. Students build higher-order thinking skills, real-world application skills, reasoning, and an understanding of interconnecting math strands.

This course is using Google Classroom. The lab will occasionally take place using a Zoom meeting.

Algebra 2

2nd Period: 10:10 AM - 11:40 AM

Algebra 2 prepares students for calculus and includes embedded geometry instruction. It reinforces trigonometry concepts and provides practice with statistics. Modeling problems and applications for other subjects like physics, chemistry, business, and finance are also included.

Prerequisite: Algebra 1. This course can be taken either before or after Geometry. A graphing calculator such as a TI-83,84, or 89 or a computer-based emulating software such as TI-connect is strongly recommended for this course.

Students are expected to work at least 45 minutes per day at home. We will use Google Classroom to communicate.

Geometry

2nd Period: 10:10 AM - 11:40 AM

Did you know that one of the most published books in the world is a geometry book, Euclid's Elements, written over 2,000 years ago? The study of geometry helps students to think logically about the essentials of logical thought and valid arguments.

Geometry analyzes the properties of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It begins with the study of lines, and then moves on to triangles, circles, polygons, and three dimensional figures. In addition, inductive and deductive thinking skills are used in problem solving situations and to make good mathematical arguments (proofs).

Prerequisite: Algebra 1. This course can be taken either before or after Algebra 2. A good quality scientific calculator is necessary for this course. We will use Google Classroom to communicate. Interested middle school students may join the class with the permission of the tutor. Please contact Providence Tutorials at providencetutorials@gmail.com for more information.
