Our Story

Providence began in the fall of 1994 with approximately thirty children from the homeschool support group, Triangle Christian Home Educators. This weekly enrichment program for elementary-aged children was originally called “FridaySchool.” Due to its success, “FridaySchool” opened to home-school families in the Triangle area regardless of their support group affiliation in the fall of 1995. At this time, the name of the program changed to “The Providence School,” and tutorials were added for students in grades 7-12. In January of 1997, The Providence School became an official ministry of King’s Park International Church. In the fall of 2000, the program became known simply as “Providence.” Shortly thereafter we changed our name again to "Providence Tutorials" which better describes our function and purpose.
