While it may be hard to believe, high school will be here before we know it. As the school counselors for daVinci Arts Middle School, one of our responsibilities is to help 8th graders get ready for high school, and answer any questions students and families may have.
One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is, “Can I go to any high school I want to?” Your student is assigned to a neighborhood high school based on their primary address in Synergy, regardless of what middle school the student attends or which high school that middle school feeds into. If your student lives in 2 households, please check in ParentVue what your child’s primary address is - this is the high school they will be enrolled in. If you’d like to change it, please reach out to Sorena in the main office- she will let you know the steps to changing a primary addresses.
Please bookmark this page to keep you abreast of all 8th - 9th grade information from PPS. If you click on the arrow below each individual high school, their open house information is available. We strongly suggest that you visit your neighborhood high school before talking about wanting to change high schools.
Each counselor is in charge of specific high schools - that information will be shared at a later date, once we know how many students are attending each high school. Until then if you have questions reach out to your students counselor. Also if you live in the Jefferson HS area, please keep an eye out for dual enrollment information.
If your child is going to apply to a private high school, please have them check in with their counselor if they want one of us to fill out a recommendation. We like to be able to check in with students about the application prior to filling out the rec. Also we need at least 4 weeks notice before recommendations are due. Thank you!
