Resources for while you wait for mental health support.
Therapy
Do you feel your child would benefit from talking to a therapist? Need help finding a support group? Interested in treatment centers? Many families reach out to school counselors for recommendations, unfortunately we cannot share actual therapist names due to ethical reasons. We'd love to refer you to Psychology Today's website. We love this website for several reasons.
It's up to date.
You can filter by your insurance.
You can read bio's and see pictures of therapists. This is helpful to include your teen on the process
You can narrow the search with more filters such as age, issue and zip code.
Contact info such as phone and email is easy to find
Psychology Today verifies and vetts each professional.
Please note that due to the mental health needs of adolescents across the state, most therapists have a 6-10 week waiting list to start an intake. Our suggestion is you contact a number of counselors to be able to access multiple waiting lists. If your student is in immediate crisis please either call the Multnomah County Crisis Line - 503-988-4888 - or take your child to the nearest emergency room.
Life Stance - Therapy offered at daVinci. Email your student's counselor for more info.
