Wednesday, October 15: Informational meeting 6-7pm in the LHS Library. This meeting is mandatory for new prospective team members and their parent/adult, and encouraged for returning members and their adult(s). Registration for new members can begin following this meeting.
All HS students who live within PPS boundaries are eligible to participate on the LHS Freestyle Ski Team/Club (provided their own school does not have its own Freestyle Ski group.)
Lincoln HS's Freestyle Ski Team is a dynamic sports group allowing skiers of all levels to improve their abilities on the mountain, with the capacity to coach 40-50 people. All park and free-ride skiers will have the opportunity to progress together as a community. Taking part in competitions is encouraged, but if the rider just wants a low stakes weekly trip to the mountain, that's ok too. We aim to provide a positive environment to all skiers and foster new friendships among different people with similar interests. Our coaches and volunteers will work to provide a safe experience fot the skiers while still enabling them to enjoy the slopes with their new skills.
We typically schedule eight coached practices on Wednesdays at Mt. Hood Meadows. Bus transportation to and from the ski resort is provided. Buses and chaperones leave LHS at 2:15pm and arrive back at LHS around 11:00pm. All students must have a confirmed ride home from Lincoln in advance. We rely on chaperones each week to help organize, ensure bus etiquette, etc.
Provided the club is able, dinner is provided for team members and chaperones. And lift tickets are generally gifted to chaperones from Meadows, valid for the evening they attend.
Coaches lead groups of riders through free-ride and available park features. Practices will include mountain safety and etiquette. Riders are encouraged to take advantage of our talented coaches to advance existing skills, prep for competitions, or free-ride safely in groups with friends. The plans for each practice vary according to mountain conditions.
As one of the only schools in Oregon with a freestyle ski team, those who wish to compete can do so through USASA or IFSA.
Day-of coaching will be available for competitions at Mt Hood Ski Resorts.
Comptitions require a seperate fees and can be found on the USASA and IFSA websites. Dates are usually posted in November.
The team fee for 2025/26 will be $850 again. We require a $150 volunteer deposit which is refundable when a parent or guardian completes a qualifying vounteer commitment.
The team fee covers necessities such as coaching, bus transportation, and supplemental insurance. If funds allow, it also covers dinners and a team hoody. It does NOT include skier lift tickets.
Need based scholarships may be available from Friends of Lincoln.
Refunds: the club maintains fairly tight finances with a small reserve for years when the team is small. Refunds are not possible after November 15th.
An informational meeting (mandatory for new team members) will be held at LHS in the commons in the fall. Dates will be posted here as soon as they are determined.
