This is Mrs. Heintz's 11th year teaching at Poynette. She grew up on a small dairy farm and graduated from River Valley High School. In high school, she was active in 4-H, showed registered dairy cows, played numerous brass instruments in band, and played soccer. Mrs. Heintz started her freshman year of college at UW-River Falls as a Dairy Science major with the intent of becoming a large animal veterinarian. Mrs. Heintz continued to practice and create artwork during her free time in her dorm room between animal science classes and dairy club meetings. While completing a general education course, she had to analyze and write a paper about a book by Lewis Hyde. In the book there was a chapter called the "Labor of Gratitude" which discussed how a person cannot truly understand or appreciate a 'gift' until he or she passes that gift to another person. This made her realize she could incorporate art into her career and also share her gift by becoming an art educator. She transferred to UW-Platteville to earn her degree in Art Education and began her position at Poynette shortly after graduating in 2014.
Mrs. Heintz is the advisor of Art & Photo Club, Student Council, and the co-advisor to LINK Crew. Mrs. Heintz is also part of the PHS Guiding Coalition. When not at school, Mrs. Heintz can be found outside gardening, taking photographs, painting, farming with her husband, and chasing after her three kids.
