This semester long course is open all students taking art for the first time in high school or looking for a class that explores a range of subjects and mediums.
This semester long class is a foundation for all other courses and is recommended to students planning on taking multiple art courses. Art Survey is highly suggested as a prerequisite, but not required.
Drawing II is a self-guided course designed to allow students to practice and challenge their drawing skills at their own pace. Students will develop their own personal drawing style and body of work by exploring their choice of media more in-depth as well as some that were not used in Drawing I.
This semester long course focuses on the fundamentals of painting, such as, color mixing, brush techniques, and composistion choices. Students experiment with a variety of different painting media and techniques.
Painting II is a self-guided course designed to allow the students to further explore painting techniques of their choice and develop a personal style.
This semester long course focuses on the fundamentals of composition, manual mode, and photo editing.
In this quarter long class, students use visual communication to promote products, ideas, and messages by exploring the various methods used by professional graphic designers.
In this quarter long course, students explore several methods of hand building sculpture as well as throwing on the potter’s wheel.
Ceramics II is a continuation of the study, however students have the choice to focus on sculpture or throwing. Students also learn how to load the kiln and other tasks in the ceramic making process.
This year long course is designed to match the rigor of college level art courses for seniors. Students will complete a portfolio to submit to the AP Board in May for assessment. Students may receive college credit for their work.
*Students wishing to take AP Art must come to a meeting in May the year before.
This semester long course is newly created. Students complete self-guided projects that incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Ag, or Mathematics. Students will work with multiple staff members to complete their projects.
