In Photography, four areas are covered: How cameras work, the use of composition, fields of photography, and how to use photo editing software. This class also explores the impact photography has on both past and current events as well as the use of social media and smartphone/tablet Apps.  Students take walking field trips around town and school grounds to capture different subjects and conditions.  

A limited number of digital cameras are available, but students are encouraged to use their own cameras that have a "Manual" setting or are advanced point-and-shoot.   It is also suggested that the camera have rechargeable batteries. Smart phones do have high quality cameras today, but they lack the adjustable features that will be covered in this course. Cameras can be locked in the art room, but the school is not responsible for lost or damaged equipment. 

This is a semester long course. Art Survey is highly suggested as a prerequisite, but not required.
