All school dances will be approved by both the Student Council and the Administration. Tickets will be sold prior to the event during all lunches. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase. Tickets are not transferable and must be purchased in advance of each event. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
Dances throughout the school year (i.e. Homecoming) are limited to Portsmouth High School students only.
Because of their special designation, Portsmouth High School students may choose to invite one, high school aged guest (under 21 years of age) if they do not wish to attend with a fellow PHS student or by themselves. Outside guests must complete a form that is signed by the host student and host parent.
All students must arrive at dances no later than one hour after they begin and will not be admitted late unless granted prior permission by the principal. If for any reason a student leaves a dance, they will not be readmitted. Additionally, no outside food or drinks will be permitted at Portsmouth High School dances.
Students may not leave PHS dances until ½ hour before the dance ends and during proms one hour before the end of the dance. If any student displays inappropriate behavior, the student will be removed from the dance.
Students absent on the day of the dance may not attend that dance. For Saturday dances, students must have attended school on Friday. Dismissals from school on the days of proms will not be honored until 12:27 pm.
Students assigned to out-of-school suspension, in- school suspension, or who have unfulfilled consequences, including teacher detentions, are not allowed to attend. Students are subject to immediate dismissal for inappropriate behavior (including sexually explicit dancing), use of/or under the influence of alcohol or drugs at or prior to any school function.
