Math 24

Mental math is celebrated in this game where students need to know their basic facts, but even more importantly be able to see patterns.  

• Take the four numbers on a card  - use them only once.

• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide until you can reach 24.

• Tell your solution to a proctor using four equations in the correct sequence.

​Points are given depending on the difficulty of the card.  Penalty cubes are given for incorrect or forgotten solutions. 

​Separate tournaments are held in Portage for grades 4, 5 and 6. The top six scorers in each grade go to a regional tournament held in Reedsburg where they compete against 40 other students. 

Students are chosen based on whether they can give a correct solution and the total number of points or cards they solve.
