If you feel that a student is not working at the level required in order to pass the placement, please contact the university as soon as possible.
Our aim is to provide you and the student with support and guidance so that they are able to improve their performance and pass the placement. However, if you feel that they do not improve to an acceptable standard to pass the placement please discuss this with the student and the university. Depending on how much of the placement is left, and how you feel that they are learning, it may be appropriate for them to stop attending immediately, or to continue to attend to increase their exposure and experience. If a student fails a placement, they will then need to retake the placement with another provider.
If, at any point during the placement, you feel that a student behaves in a manner which is inappropriate, unprofessional or unsafe, please contact the university as soon as possible. This incident should be noted on the CPAF form in Appendix 1 (record of warnings). Depending on the severity of the incident, there may be wider implications for the student within the university.
Each student is able to retake one placement during the two years. If a student fails more than one placement they will not be able to complete the programme.
