Last week we:
learned about Rosh Hashanah. We read Something New for Rosh Hashanah by Jane Yolen.
began to learn about Colombia as part of El Mes de Herencia Latina.
took a walk around the block to explore our surroundings, see the changing colors, and prepare for our eventual trips to the park. We focused on using the senses of seeing, hearing, and smelling on our walk to observe our surroundings.
This week we will:
learn about Yom Kippur.
continue to learn about Colombia as part of El Mes de Herencia Latina.
continue to talk about our classroom rules and agreements.

use (or try) the bathroom and wash their hands
answer the question of the day
Thank you for your assistance in making arrival flow easily each morning!

Dear Families,
Happy Sunday! We were all incredibly excited to welcome students into the classroom last week. As a teacher, coming back to school at the end of Summer and stepping foot in the classroom is always a joyful experience. The real fun truly starts when students are welcomed back and get a chance to explore their space and meet their new classmates. We encourage you to read our classroom's Name Name book that was sent home on Friday and help your child learn their classmates' names (you can even ask them to teach you the accompanying song)!
An important note: To ensure all emails are seen as soon as possible, please make sure both Ms. Katherine and Ms. Aliyah are included as recipients.
Last week we:
- got to meet and spend time with each other. Students explored toys, puzzles, art, and books with their peers and their teachers.
- spent time in circle learning each other's names, reading, talking about our feelings, and singing together. We learned the Name, Name song and read our classroom Name Name book!
- focused on books that related to our first day experiences. We read The Goodbye Book and The I'm Not Scared Book by Todd Parr, and F is for Feelings by Goldie Millar and Lisa A. Berger.
- met some additional adults from around our school! We had in class visits from Ms. Seidel (PE) and Ms. Rivizzigno.
- enjoyed eating snack together and learned more about each other in a casual manner. We had a popsicle party with Nursery B on Friday morning after recess!
- had fun exploring the yard during recess and meeting Nursery B students and teachers!
This week we will:
- have our first full day of school!
- continue to explore the classroom and get to know each other!
- meet the rest of our specialist teachers!
- talk about kindness, classroom rules, and routines.
- read The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn and create our own kissing hands. We will continue to talk about feelings and how each student felt during their first week of school.
