Happy Sunday! We hope you had a wonderful weekend. As a reminder, if you have not yet done so, please send in a family picture for our classroom family tree. We would like to have every student and their family represented!

Last week we:
talked about ways we can be safe, kind, and happy in the classroom. We read Germs are Not for Sharing by Elizabeth Verdick, Hands are Not for Hitting by Martine Agassi, and Everyone Gets a Turn by Marianne Dubuc. We then came up with our Classroom Agreements.
continued to strengthen our classroom and recess routines.
continued to explore the idea of Bucket Fills and the ways we spread kindness each day in school.
This week we will:
begin to talk about who we are and what makes us the same and different.
explore color mixing and introduce the easel.
meet our 4th grade buddies for the first time!
welcome Victoria and Adrian’s Family into the classroom to share about Peru!
We would love your help in facilitating the morning routine each day! When students come in each morning they should:
put their backpack and jacket away in their cubby
put their water bottle on the fridge (and snack on the counter if they have it)
use (or try) the bathroom and wash their hands
answer the question of the day
Thank you for your assistance in making arrival flow easily each morning!
If your child is staying for rest time, please send in a blanket, crib sheet, and/or small stuffed animal that they can use. Additionally, if you have not done so already, please send in extra clothes and rain boots and a rain jacket for your child's cubby.

Please make sure you update your student's dismissal plans each day through the PickUp Patrol App.
Give your child the opportunity to move, grow, and shine in Disney Dance Party with Ms. Aliyah! Through fun, Disney-inspired movement activities, children will develop coordination, gross motor skills, balance, body awareness, confidence, focus, and retention—all while dancing, playing, and exploring their favorite Disney characters, music and stories.

The October LSPA Meeting is Thursday, October 8 from 8:45-10:00am.
There will be no school on Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13 for Indigenous Peoples’ Day and a Faculty and Staff Professional Day respectively.
Crazy Sock Day is Friday, October 16.
Pumpkin Patch and Homecoming are Saturday, October 17 at the Dyker Heights Campus. Pumpkin Patch will be from 11:00am-1:00pm.
Snapshots will be shared in the Parent Portal on Friday, October 23 at 4:00pm.
The Lower School Haunted House will be on Saturday, October 24 from 5:45-7:45pm.
Dress Up Day and the Parade will be on Friday, October 30 at 8:40am. You can access our costume guidelines here.

Additionally, after school enrichment classes begin this Tuesday, September 22. If you have not signed your child up for classes and still want to, you can do so here. Finally, Back to School Night and Reception is this Tuesday, September 22 from 5:45-8:30. We look forward to welcoming you into the classroom to learn more about our curriculum. Please note, this is an adult only event.

Last week we:
had our first full day of school!
took our class picture and individual pictures on Picture Day!
continued to explore the classroom and get to know each other!
continued to read and talk about feelings. We read F is for Feelings by Goldie Millar and Lisa Berger and The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. The students then worked on their own kissing hands and explored how they felt during their first week of school.
talked about kindness and explored the idea of Bucket Filling as a way to track our kind acts throughout the day. We read How Full is Your Bucket? by Mary Reckmeyer and Tom Rath and Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud before talking about ways that we could fill each other’s buckets in the classroom. We encourage you to read or listen to these books with your students and ask them what filled their buckets at home or at school.
met the remainder of our specialist teachers, Ms. Kristen (Library), Ms. Ely (Spanish), and Ms. Courtney (Dance)!
celebrated Anne’s birthday with a visit from her family! They read The Color Monster by Anna Llenas and showed some pictures of Anne and her family.

Dear Families,
Happy Sunday! We were all incredibly excited to welcome students into the classroom last week. As a teacher, coming back to school at the end of Summer and stepping foot in the classroom is always a joyful experience. The real fun truly starts when students are welcomed back and get a chance to explore their space and meet their new classmates. We encourage you to read our classroom's Name Name book that was sent home on Friday and help your child learn their classmates' names (you can even ask them to teach you the accompanying song)! As a reminder, tomorrow, Monday, September 14, is Picture Day!

Last week we:
got to meet and spend time with each other. Students explored toys, puzzles, art, and books with their peers and their teachers.
spent time in circle learning each other's names, reading, talking about our feelings, and singing together. We learned the Name, Name song and read our classroom Name Name book!
focused on books that related to our first week experiences. We read The Goodbye Book and The I'm Not Scared Book by Todd Parr, First Day Hooray by June Sobel, and Our Class is a Family by Shannon Olsen.
met some additional adults from around our school! We had in class visits from Ms. Seidel (PE), Mr. Stephen (Music), and Ms. Rivizzigno.
enjoyed eating snack together and learned more about each other in a casual manner. We had a popsicle party with Nursery B on Friday morning after recess!
had fun exploring the yard during recess and meeting Nursery B students and teachers!
This week we will:

Tomorrow, Monday, September 14, is the first day of our regular full day schedule. Half day pickup will be at the front door at 12:15 and afternoon pickup will be at the yard gate.
