Specialist Updates!
Nursery A Announcements!
Dear Families,
Happy Sunday! We hope you had a wonderful weekend. Please continue to make sure to send in extra sweaters and sweatshirts, winter accessories, snow boots, extra shoes, and dress students in warm pants this week as we will be heading out for a truncated recess as long as the temperature is above 0°. We would also recommend sending in a snowsuit or pants if you have not done so already.
Last week we:
continued our letter of the week unit by learning about the letter N. Students thought of 30 words for our list and voted to decorate the large N with Narwhals. Each student also tried writing an uppercase letter N!
read another version of The Mitten, explored sequencing and story telling by acting out the story, and continued to make our own mittens.
continued to learn about Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and how influential “big” words can be. We talked about how all of us can “be a King”.
began to learn about Rosa Parks as part of Black/African-American Heritage Month.
welcomed Jax’s family into the classroom for his family share. They shared photos of their family and shared a favorite book, Dragons Love Tacos!
This week we will:
continue our letter of the week unit by learning about the letter O.
continue to talk about Black/African-American History Month by learning about a few influential figures in the Civil Rights Movement and a few influential figures in the development of the arts in the US.
continue to explore sequencing and story telling by acting out The Mitten.
welcome Millie’s and Vivienne’s families into the classroom for their family shares!
Registration for June Camp programs at Poly Lower School is open! Learn more about Jammin June, Robochef, and Math and Motion here! Please note, space is limited and registration is first-come, first-served.
We are excited to continue welcoming each family into the classroom for Family Shares. These visits are 20-30 minutes long and often families talk about a family tradition or favorite family activity, show pictures, and read a story. You are also welcome to lead an activity if you would like. Our available times this year are 9:05-9:30 and 10:45-11:30. If you have not done so, please sign up for a date/time here. Please note that we will be wrapping up Family Shares in March.
Throughout the year we find it important and necessary to celebrate the different holidays and cultures in our school and classroom community. We would like to extend a special invitation for you to join us in teaching and celebrating a holiday that may be special to your family. Please let us know if you would like to come in and share about a specific holiday that is important to you.
Don’t forget to send in a blanket, crib sheet, and/or small stuffed animal that your student can use for rest time. Additionally, please make sure your student has weather appropriate extra clothing in their cubby.
Please make sure you update your student's dismissal plans each day through the PickUp Patrol App.
