Happy Sunday, we hope you had a great weekend! It was wonderful to welcome all of your students’ Grandparents and Special Friends into the classroom on Friday. We have an exciting week coming up with our first field trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on Tuesday! Thank you to everyone who signed up to chaperone. If you have not yet signed up to chaperone a field trip, you can do so here.
Last week we:
continued our letter of the week unit by learning about the letter V! Students thought of 23 words that begin with V, voted to decorate the large V with a Volcano, and practiced writing uppercase V’s!
continued our Animal Study by learning about Insects and Arachnids! We learned about the different characteristics of the classification as a whole and learned more in depth about butterflies. Students then learned about symmetry and began painting their own symmetrical butterflies.
did Movement inspired by Insects! Everyone learned an Insect version of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!
continued Show and Tell!
welcomed Grandparents and Special Friends into the classroom on Friday morning!

Throughout the year we find it important and necessary to celebrate the different holidays and cultures in our school and classroom community. We would like to extend a special invitation for you to join us in teaching and celebrating a holiday that may be special to your family. Please let us know if you would like to come in and share about a specific holiday that is important to you.
Don’t forget to send in a blanket, crib sheet, and/or small stuffed animal that your student can use for rest time. Additionally, please make sure your student has weather appropriate extra clothing in their cubby.

The End of Year Cocktail Reception will be on Tuesday, May 19 at 6pm.
There is no school on Friday, May 22 and Monday, May 25 for a Faculty and Staff Professional Day and Memorial Day respectively.
There is no school on Wednesday, May 27 in honor of Eid al-Adha.
Fan Day is Friday, May 29.

Happy Sunday, we hope you are having a wonderful long weekend! We loved speaking to each of you last week about your student’s progress. We can’t believe how quickly the year is flying by! As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, Monday, April 20, for a Faculty and Staff Professional Day. If you have not signed up for one of our 3 upcoming field trips, please do so here. We ask that each family signs up for one trip! Additionally, there are two important events coming up this week! First, the Pre-K Parent Preview is this Tuesday, April 21 at noon. You can access the zoom link here. Second, Grandparents and Special Friends Day is this Friday, April 24! We are excited to welcome everyone in from 8:45-10:30.

continued our Animal Study that will take us to the end of the year! We learned briefly about Plants and introduced the different classifications of Animals. Everyone’s excitement for our upcoming trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens grew as we learned more about how plants grow!
had our first week of Show and Tell!
had an author visit from Ruth Chan! She shared all about her book Thank You, Neighbor!
welcomed Zane’s family into the classroom to celebrate his birthday! They read Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn and showed pictures of Zane through the years.

We will be taking three field trips over the last few months of school. Our first field trip, to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, will be Tuesday, April 28. Our next two trips will be to the Prospect Park Zoo and the Fire Station. We ask that one parent from each family join us as a chaperone for one of our three trips. You can sign up for a spot here. reviewed our classroom rules and routines and shared about our adventures over Spring Break!

spent time with our 4th grade buddies! Everyone worked on making friendship bracelets.
listened to Quinn, Mila, and Rafa perform for the final of the Women’s Oratory Contest.
