School Lunch Program:
In first grade the students have the opportunity to buy a snack during lunch time. You might want to discuss with your child whether or not they are permitted to use their account for snacks, especially since the time in the cafeteria is limited (20 minutes) and the students have a classroom snack time in the afternoon. The snacks cost $1.00 and the items for sale are things such as bags of Fruit Loops, Doritos, pretzels, popcorn. In past years, I’ve had parents put a dollar bill in their child’s lunchbox on the day that they are permitted to buy a snack. At this age, the children tend to not finish their lunches so they can buy a snack. The students will also have the opportunity to buy a second slice of pizza on pizza days. We take lunch count in the morning, so the students need to know whether they are purchasing a second slice. It would be helpful if you discuss whether or not they can purchase a second slice. All cafeteria information is under food services on the district website. I hope this information is helpful. If you have questions about charges on your account or menu options please contact food services.
Our lunch time is from 11:20-11:40. Families who apply and are eligible for the free lunch program will receive free meals. All other families will need to send lunch money to school each day or set up an online lunch payment account via School Cafe. Instructions for setting up a School Cafe account are posted to your Parent Portal. The student lunch price is $3.00, and the lunch menu is available on the school website. Applications for the free/reduced lunch program were mailed to all school households, posted to Parent Portal, and are available on the district website.
Our snack time is from 1:35-1:50 each day. Students always have the opportunity to finish their lunch during snack due to our limited time in the cafeteria.
