In first grade the students have the opportunity to buy a snack during lunch time.  You might want to discuss with your child whether or not they are permitted to use their account for snacks, especially since the time in the cafeteria is limited (20 minutes) and the students have a classroom snack time in the afternoon.  The snacks cost $1.00 and the items for sale are things such as  bags of Fruit Loops, Doritos, pretzels, popcorn. In past years, I’ve suggested that parents put a dollar bill in their child’s lunchbox on the day that they are permitted to buy a snack. At this age, the children tend to not finish their lunches so they can buy a snack. The students will also have the opportunity to buy a second slice of pizza on pizza days. We take lunch count in the morning, so the students need to know whether they are purchasing a second slice. It would be helpful if you discuss whether or not they can purchase a second slice. All cafeteria information is under food services on the district website. I hope this information is helpful. If you have questions about charges on your account or menu options please contact food services directly.
