Delta Iota Chi is a club for PLU nursing students to come together, support each other, and volunteer in the community. Delta hosts events such as blood drives, the Turkey Drive, CPR classes, and even hosts an event to teach University of Puget Sound physical therapy students how to ambulate patients who are hooked up to a lot of tubes and lines!
Delta allows any student actively in the school of nursing curriculum (Jr1-Sr2, ELMSN, etc.) to participate!
Through volunteering and becoming involved, you can earn points toward a special medallion to wear at graduation. Becoming a board member earns you a special cord to wear at graduation as well.
Delta is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the nursing community and stay involved on campus. Come check us out!
Each member will receive points based on both membership and participation in Delta activities, events, and positions of leadership. Undergraduate members are encouraged to accrue an average of ten points per semester or forty points by graduation (if you started nursing school spring of 2022 or before, you need 60 points). This includes BSN students in Parkland and ABSN students in Lynwood. Entry-level Master's members are encouraged to accrue an average of ten points per semester or forty points by graduation. Graduate students, MSN or DNP, are encouraged to accrue an average of ten points per semester, depending on the length of the program.
Awards will be given out each semester rewarding those students who have gone above and beyond in commitment, service, and leadership within Delta. Undergraduate Senior 2 students who obtain a minimum of 40 points by graduation (60 if in the old BSN curriculum, beginning spring 2022 or before), ELMSN students who obtain a minimum of 40 points by graduation, and graduate students who average 10 points per semester of their program over their time in the School of Nursing, will be recognized with a Delta medallion at the last Delta meeting of each semester and on our Delta website for their commitment, service, and leadership within Delta.
If you do not know how many points you currently have, you can email the current Secretary. However, although the points are tracked by the Secretary, each member must keep track of their own points to avoid errors.
