British army pith helmet

The pith helmet, sometimes called the safari helmet, was worn by most British soldiers during the Anglo-Zulu war. It is a hard, cloth-covered helmet used to protect the head. The pointed rim of the hat protects the wearer's eyes from the sun. The badge on the front of the helmet signifies the soldier's regiment.
