Interpreter Preparation: ASL/English & Deaf Studies

The Interpreter Preparation Program (IPP) at Northwestern CT Community College is a program of study leading to an Associate in Science degree in Interpretation: ASL/English. The purpose of the program is to provide quality interpreter education in a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary endeavor, focusing on preparing interpreters and translators of ASL and English. The professional career program is a comprehensive, sequenced, and integrated series of courses that is intended to provide students with the necessary techniques and skills required for professional work as interpreters. Graduates are encouraged to continue with their education, however, by transfer to baccalaureate degree programs.
