Welcome, Class Expectations, and Overview.
Students will come into the library and get acquainted with the space and be introduced to myself.  I will explain expectations and procedures.  We will also read "Back to School Tortoise" and talk about concerns they had about their first day of school.  I will teach them songs that will help us quiet down for a book along with another song about authors and illustrators.

Students will come into the library and sit on a blue X to help encourage social distancing.  We will review what we did and talked about during our last class.  Next, we will read an Elephant & Piggie book (Can I Play, too?) by Mo Willems.  After reading, students will get to pick out their own Mo Willems book and look at it until the entire class is checked out.  If time allows we will sing our song about authors and illustrators again.

This week we will be learning about Classic Fairy Tales.  We will talk about how Classic Fairy Tales are different than other stories and what the authors want us to learn from Classic Fairy Tales.  I will read The Three Little Bears to the students.  We will discuss the characters and what lesson the author wants us to learn.  After discussion is over, students will check out their own Classic Fairy Tale books.

This week we will be learning all about Pete the Cat books (author: James Dean).  Pete the Cat books are fictional but usually teach us a valuable lesson.  I will be reading a couple Pete the Cat books and students will be able to check out Pete the Cat books, too.  We will discuss what lesson Pete wants us to learn in these stories.

This week in the library students will read a non-fiction book "How Do You Know It's Fall?" and a fiction book "When Summer Ends".  We will discuss the changes we've noticed from summer to fall and what are clues that fall is here.  Students will then be able to check out non-fiction or fiction books about this season.

This week we are going to read two books.
Our first book is Shivery Shades of Halloween and students will learn about colors as they follow a cute little creature on his adventure through haunted halls, moonlit forests...perhaps even a Halloween party! Adorable monsters add a blast of "colorful creepy-crawliness" that I hope will make them smile and giggle. Who knew that learning colors could be such spooky fun?

Have you ever been teased? How did you feel? What other ways are there to communicate other than teasing?
Next, we will read the book The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Teasing.
We will discuss how Brother bear felt throughout the book and how he changed.
Student will then be able to check out Halloween/Fall or Berenstain Bears books.

Today we will be reading the story Where's My Mummy. We will focus on the students being able to describe all of the creatures that baby mummy meets. After our discussion, we will check out books, look at them for a couple minutes, and if time allows read Moldilocks and the Three Scares. I will ask students if this book reminds them of any books they've read in the past. (I will reference our Fairy Tales unit we covered in the beginning of the school year.) We will discuss connections, similarities, and differences between the two stories.

This week we will be reading the story Setting the Turkeys Free and Cliffords First Autumn.
Once we have finished students will get a turn to make turkeys just like in the illustrations from our first book.  This page can be found here. 
We will discuss if the books we read are fiction or nonfiction and why.  We will also talk about the illustrations in the books.

Today 4K students will be introduced to our Curious George section of the library.  We will read Curious George Visits the Library.  4K students will then get to check out a Curious George book.  If time allows we will read the book Thanksgiving is for Giving Thanks on the Clevertouch.  We will discuss traditions that students look forward to with their family during Thanksgiving.

Students will be introduced to our Thanksgiving/holiday section in our library.  We will read the book Turkey Trouble and discuss what our favorite 'disguise' was that the turkey used/did.  Lastly, we will work on fine motor skills and trace lines all while incorporating a fun turkey theme.

This week we will read The Night Before Thanksgiving. I will ask students to show me where the Holiday/Thanksgiving section is.  If time allows we will watch and sing a fun Thanksgiving song.

This week we will read Snowman at Night. I will ask the students if they think this book is fiction or non-fiction and how do they know. Students will then get to check out books from our Winter/Holiday section. Lastly, if time allows we will read the book Snow on the Clevertouch.
