Our goal is to encourage parent advocacy and engagement in their student learning. The metrics for measuring parent engagement and involvement include:
Overall satisfaction noted in the yearly AdvancEd/Cognia parent survey.
Number of parent volunteers
Number of parents with memberships in the PiSTEM PTA
Staff satisfaction was strongly impacted by COVID during the 2020-21 school year. Staff voted to lose their Wednesday PD/PLC time to enable them to see students every day, which resulted in less collaboration time. Staff and parents also gave input into the COVID plan and also the move to every student attending every day, but for half-day sessions, which became very tasking to the teachers across the board but it was what they felt was the best for students.
Staff retention also was hit pretty hard after the 2020-21 COVID school year, which is not inconsistent with surrounding schools.
In November of 2021 the Board of Directors pushed out a survey created by ISBA and asked parents and staff, what do you feel are the executive director's strengths? Here is what they had to say:
The ISBA survey asked parents and staff, how engaged they felt that their students were, 96% of parents and staff felt that their students were very or somewhat engaged at Pi STEM.
The ISBA survey also asked parents and staff, what they thought Pi STEM was doing well? Here is how they responded:

Addition of Agriculture Education for ALL: 2020-21 exposure of all K-8 students to agriculture education and the opportunity to take CTE Agriculture classes in high school (application to CTE to transition from a CTE Programming program to two CTE programs: Agriculture Leadership and Pre-Engineering).
Addition of a defined science curriculum in grades K-6 in 2019-20, Full Option Science System and Smithsonian Science for Children.
Continued work on STEM-based PBL questions and iterations of these themes and questions each year during our annual Pi STEM Summer PBL Institute.
Institution of STEM Signing Day starting in 2021.
Following an assessment of how many of our students were seeking out the CTE Programming track we realized that our students interest were in a more hands-on approach to programing (robotics) and in agriculture. So we changed directions, proving our students more choice in their coursework.
