Project Impact STEM Academy has an ever-growing list of community mentors. Some examples of community mentors that we have worked with include:
Micron - Peter Ward & David Martin spoke with 8th-grade students about effective means of disposal of electronic waste. Students explored various means of reclaiming electronic waste and then designed solutions to present to Mr. Ward and Mr. Martin, who then gave them feedback on their ideas.
Idaho EPSCoR GEM3 @ Boise State University - Peter Olsoy spoke with 3rd-grade students about the Sagebrush Ecosystem. Students then researched the species that live in the Sagebrush Ecosystem and wrote books about these species. Dr. Olsoy then fact-checked their books and provided them with feedback.
Coyote Prosthetics & Orthotics - Anna Larsen, Orthotics/Prosthetics and Ellie Guth, a patient came and spoke with 4th-grade students about human prosthetics and how they are made. Students used the information that they gleaned from the presentation to develop a prosthetic limb for a dog.
