Winter Concert
Thursday, December 10
8/29/2026
Dear Band Families,
The last two weeks have been used to set up our sections, give out music, and review skills. I have been extremely impressed with all of our band members and how hard they have worked in our rehearsals.
I would like to remind everyone that if your child needs to be absent, I need to know 24 hours ahead of time, whenever possible. I would also ask that when scheduling dentist, orthodontist, and non-emergency doctor visits, to try to schedule these on days when your child is not in band. We are covering a lot of material in each rehearsal, so when they miss it, they are slowing their musical growth. With only 1 rehearsal per week, missing one week's rehearsal does make a difference.
The schedule for the coming week:
Monday, August 31 - NO rehearsals
Tuesday, September 1 - 3:00-5:00 - Concert Band (Beginner Band) - Thank you to all the returning students who are coming out to help beginners and review basics!
Wednesday, September 2 - 3:00-4:30 - We will review our flams, flam-taps, paradiddles. We will add double paradiddles, and multiple bounces. Plan to continue our work on Tadpole (cadence). You did a great job with this last week!
Thursday, September 3 - 3:00-5:00 - Symphonic Band: We will be working on Epic Stadium as well as a Christmas piece with meter and key signature changes. I will make sure to explain it all, but be prepared for a challenge to increase your musical knowledge and skills.
Friday - September 4 - I have lesson times available at 3:00 and 3:30. Email me if you would like one of these times.
In addition, we need to schedule a planning meeting for our Band Boosters and a Band Fun Night. We need to elect new officers and adopt a budget for the upcoming year. Let's plan for Thursday, September 10 for our Band Booster meeting. I will look at the September calendar and get back to you about the Band Fun Night.
It's going to be another great week!
