Weekly Message from Mrs. Owens for Band and Chorus

Dear Band and Chorus Families, 

Thank you for your responses last week, letting me know of those unable to attend the rehearsal on Thursday last week.  We had nine students who were able to make the rehearsal, and I believe several of them made significant personal progress. As a group we were able to work on a piece for our Winter Concert and some Pep Band tunes.  

This week we will be back to our regular schedule, as follows:

Monday, October 19 - 3:00-5:00 - Chorus Rehearsal - We will continue rhythm reading, solfege, and diction exercises.  I will introduce a new piece of music while we continue working on some we have already read.  

Tuesday, October 20 - 3:00-5:00 - Concert Band - We will work on some Pep Band tunes and beginning placing tunes into our flip folders in anticipation of our first basketball game. Also, we need to practice our marching skills so we can march through the parking lot to the gym for the games. 

Wednesday, October 21 - 3:00-4:30:  Percussion Ensemble - We need everyone here so we can practice marching the transition between Warp Speed and Tadpole ( our marching cadence).  We will, as always, work on rudiments to warm-up. 

Thursday, October 22 - 3:00-5:00 - Symphonic Band - We will also be placing music into our flip folders.  We worked on Unison Pep Band Tunes last week, so we will play some of the Shorties #2 and #3 and put those in flip folders.  We also need to practice our marching skills.

Friday, October 23 - There will be two time slots for lessons this week 3:00-3:30 and 3:30-4:00.  If you would like one of these slots, please contact me.  These lessons are first come-first served.

Friday, December 4 - Homecoming parade 

Sunday, December 6 - (tentative participation) Town of Earl Christmas Parade

Thursday, December 10 - Winter Concert
