Seventh Grade music class reviews many of the elements of music learned the previous year. Seventh graders pick up where sixth grade left off with music of the Romantic period. Some composers that will be studied are: Johannes Brahms, Hector Berlioz, Franz Liszt, and Richard Wagner. Music and National Identity will be studied and the semester will culminate with a study of blues and jazz.

Welcome to the second half of the semester!
Note taking is a skill that you will need in high school and college, so we are going to be taking notes in class. Last week we began our unit on Johannes Brahms. It will be important for you to take notes on a daily basis. If you are absent, you will be expected to copy notes from a friend. We will not be going back over material that you missed while absent. We will be having quizzes that will be open notes, making it important to take good notes. Our final test on this unit will NOT be open notes. If you take notes, as required, you will have your notes to study.
The Brahms presentation is in Google Classroom. If you are absent, you should review the presentation and take notes, then check with classmates to see if there are additional notes from the classroom presentation.
After completing the presentation notes, we will have some worksheets to complete to reinforce the materials presented. We will also have a short skit to read, and a mystery cryptogram to solve.
