Seventh Grade Music

Seventh Grade music class reviews many of the elements of music learned the previous year.  Seventh graders pick up where sixth grade left off with music of the Romantic period.  Some composers that will be studied are:  Johannes Brahms, Hector Berlioz, Franz Liszt, and Richard Wagner.  Music and National Identity will be studied and the quarter will culminate with a study of blues and jazz.

Louis Armstrong 1901-1971

Charlie Parker 1920-1955

Jazz Project Contest

First and Second quarter Seventh Grade students will be competing in a jazz project contest.

Each student will be assigned a jazz musician and create a poster to reflect the life and music of that musician. Each student will also be responsible for a "creative project" where they use their own talents and interests to create something (art work, crafts, sewing, writing, etc.) to represent their assigned jazz musician.

Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners in each seventh grade class, as well as students with the overall first, second, and third place scores.

In addition to a poster, a former first place overall winner created this documentary on the life of Scott Joplin.

Winners from the Fall 2023 classes will be posted soon!
