Project Description: Artisan Chocolate Adventure - Exploring My Roots
In this project, we were asked to visualize and design an original, edible piece of chocolate that demonstrated our heritage. The chocolate had either be rectangular or circular, with specific dimensions for each, and it had to have the design on one side.
Brainstorm: When our teacher first introduced the project to our class, I immediately knew what my chocolate was going to be about; my rich and fascinating heritage. But not just this, I also knew the layout of this mold and each symbol and design I was going to use. My dad always talks about our rich heritage and why it's important to carry it on, and this really inspired me. With this design, I hope to convey a message of the Indian culture; its diversity, history and beliefs. With a quick google search (my research source), I learned about the Indian flag and India's vast culture.
HAND SKETCH HERE:
Procedure: First, I started my design by creating a base with the dimensions 2.5" by 3.5". After that was done, I researched on Google for images and ideas for what to add. Each day of this project, I was curious to know more about my heritage so I asked my dad for information. This contributed to all the aspects that my chocolate has.
Previous design: The reason I didn't use this layout was because of the messiness of the print and also the uneven thickness if two symbols overlapped each other. By the way, there were no other previously printed revisions, other than the final piece.
Reflection - SOUL
S - The circular pattern in Fusion 360 was really fun to use when I was creating the emblem on the India Flag.
O - I think I could've added more complex design to make this look a little bit cooler.
U - I understood how to use the spline and circular pattern tool well when I was tracing canvases.
L - Some limitations I encountered were that I was entering in the dimensions for centimeters, not inches unitl I finally realized that I had to resize everything.
WISCR - For this project, I think being an insightful thinker was the most valuable skill. It really sparked creativity in some moments where I really needed it. Also, being self-motivated brought me up from times I really wasn't too confident in my design.
