Hearts: The True Symbol of Love

Description: In honor of Valentine's Day, we used code blocks to create a soap design that had some connection to the holiday. While the soap sizes were guaranteed (1-1.5 inches in height and 2-3 inches in diameter), we were open to create any design we wanted. We were also instructed to make up a Valentine's tagline to go with the soap. I decided to make a soap with a heart on it. My tagline is shown above.
My sketch
Brainstorming: I thought of my soap design when I simply thought of love. That began my thinking of a heart, a heart with sunshine and clouds and words. I didn't research at all, it was whatever came from my heart in the moment.
Procedure:
I started with a heart which was 2.5" x 2.5" x 1".
I added triple heart.
Wasn't enough so I added text for my mom.
Clouds and sunshine to symbolize my mother's love and brightness.
Printing process
With our printed designs, we used silicon plastique to close the sides and make the final mold for the soap. We had to work quickly since the mold set in 10 minutes. Once it set, we unpeeled it from the printed design.
We then melted some soap and poured it into the mold.
Reflection:
S- My strengths in this project was time management.
O- I had opportunities to improve my work was to think of more designs that would fill the soap.
U- I learned how to spontaneously use Tinkercad Codeblocks to create complex designs and more.
L- One of the limitations I encountered was not being able to calculate the Z axis for my clouds of sunshine.
In this project we applied 2 WISCR points: well-rounded and respectful individuals of character because I tried many different ideas that worked well together and I had to collaborate with people to use the printers.
My thoughts on my prints:
My first print had clouds which were too packed together and had filament coming out of the base.
My second print had supports which indicated floating elements in the design.
My third print was my final print that I committed to. I fixed the clouds and the floating designs from the previous print and I made the triple-heart more visible.
