1. Description:
In this project we have to work with Mr Bergenstock to create a wood storage box. There is already a storage box in the 3d printing room but it is unorganized and it is hard to pull out.
Guidelines-We have to create a storage box that fits under the work bench, that has the correct sizes and wheels to pull it out.
2. Brainstorm:
To brainstorm ideas for the wood storage box, we first searched it up, and found this image that we thought would be the best fit for this project.
At first, we drew on the table to start our brainstorm. Our designed contained a pull out bar on the bottom, wheel squares on the base, and it would be a trapzoid shape on the sides. there would be one peice of wood to keep the scrap would inside of the box, and you would have to organize the scrap would from smallest to biggest. There are 2 designs below.
3. Procedure:
Design 1
For our design, we have 3 walls, a base, a smaller wall blocking the scrap wood from falling out, and a bigger wall dividing the smaller wood and the bigger wood, so it can stay organized and tidy. We have one design on the side which is a guy throwing away wood in a recycling bin, like what you should use with this. This is our base model, and we are trying to improve the design and add features that make it easier for it to function.
Design 2
The differences in this design and the last one is that we didn't add the legs and we decided that the designs would be engraved and the handle. We looked at the dimentions of the wheels and the design. We also decided that the designs would be engraved rather than extruded. We added the pull out bar at the top, so you won't have to bend down and hurt your back, but instead you can pull it out without putting stress in your back. Finally, we added another design on the side which is a recycling logo.
For our prototype, we laser cut all the main peices, which are the base, the walls, the divider walls, and the pull out bar. The cardboard kept on bending, making it super hard to get it straight and perfect. The hot glue also wouldn't stick. After adding tape to reinforce the design, we finally finished the project with all the main parts of the design.
4. Reflections
S - Our strength in our work was our design and how functionable it was. It has cool designs that symbolizes doing good for this world, and it is easily usable and simple.
O - We could probably improve the pace of work for mot of the classes we worked very solowly but at the end we had to go sped to finish it up.
U - We learned the basics of fusion 360, and how to explore an app without knowledge of it. We also learned how to import and get ready to laser cut a design.
L - At first we had probvlems using Fusion 360 we wernt very familar with the app so it took a few trys to make it perfect.
WISCR:
Insightful thinker: we were very quick to come up with ideas we came up with the final design very quick
Clear communitor: Me and Rohan were always on the same page on the project this enabled us to work effeciantly at times.
