Soap Project: Bringing the heat serving the wins

Description: In this project I was asked to choose one important person in my life to express my appreciation by creating a personalized and thoughtful design. It will be made into a small piece of soap using a silicone mold that I will learn how to create. Each student will make at least 2 pieces of soap using the reusable silicone mold. Along with my design, I have to also come up with a catchy tagline that goes with it.

Brainstorm:

I made lots of different designs including 3 elements relating to the person I chose. I chose Hardy. I included a tennis Racket because he plays tennis the Chinese stars because he's Chinese and finally his name in Chinese. I created the first design without much thought but the Final design had more artistic elements.

Procedure: There was a few problems with my first 3d design. The tennis  racket's strings were too small for the plastique to measure. The holes in between the strings were also too deep. The end of the racket also hung off the end awkwardly. To fix these issues I had to increase the the size of the holes in between the strings and extrude the holes. for the last issue I had to create a line to fill out the end. I also adjusted all of the lengths to make the final product.

3D Printing: On my first 3D print the racket strings were too thin so I had to go back and edit the size so it would show on the print.

Molding: For the molding we had to rush because of the quick hardening and there was also a shortage of the mold. The mold turned out great except for some slight holes but i filled it in with a hot glue gun.

Soap: My soap came out good except parts of the Chinese stars couldn't be molded. Because of this I decided to re-mold. But it didnt come out better.

Reflection - SOUL 

1. 1. S - One thing  I did well is leaving time for error for example my first print was messed up but i left time to fix this so I was still on time for the project. But i still didn't have enough time to fix the mold.

   2. O - I could've filled more space on my design. I could've done this by adding more details

   3. U - I learned more about the 3D printers and their limitations. For example how I couldn't print the tennis racket strings because the printer couldn't print that precise. 

   4. L -  Some limitations I had during this project was the printer not being able to print the tennis racket strings. If I had more time I could have also added more to the design. Some other limitations was the soap the stars were too small for the soap to fill.

WISCR - 

1. 5. Self Motivator: I was on task for this project and was able to successfully defeat problems. I also motivated myself to work instead of playing games.

   6. Insightful and Critical Thinker: I came up with my brainstorm pretty fast because I knew what I wanted to show from the begining. This helped me have more time to fix issues.
