Objective - Students will have a greater depth of involvement and continued commitment in one focused service pillar that they identify with while recognizing how service helps to develop the positive character traits of our core values.Â
Guidelines:
Align your service with identified passions and interests with the intention of more in depth, on going and committed service to an organization, cause or social issue.
50% of your service time (20 hours) should be connected to one particular pillar.
Students may explore additional service opportunities in any pillar or stay with their chosen pillar for their remaining service hours.
ALL GRADES:
Complete 40 hours of civic engagement, through an approved organization within the community, according to grade level guidelines.
Fill out the Service Learning GoogleSheet and validate the hours regularly. Students will download sheet during service learning training.
Use the grade level rubric to complete one reflection per semester.
Summer: Up to 30* hours allowed; 10 must be completed during the school year.
Recommend 20 Hours in Semester 1 and 20 Hours in Semester 2.
*If working towards the Presidential Service Award (100 hours) more than 30 hours may be completed over the summer, however 10 still must be done during the school year.
